A mother has admitted to her police officer husband that she murdered their three-year-old son after he caught her kissing her lover.
Four months after the boy’s death, Jyoti Rathore admitted to her husband Dhyan Singh that she had pushed him to his death from a terrace after he caught her kissing her neighbour, according to local media.
The horrific incident took place in Gwalior, in India’s state of Madhya Pradesh, with the mum making the confession on Tuesday, 5th September, after apparently being unable to live with the guilt, leading Indian media to compare her to Shakespeare’s treacherous woman Lady Macbeth.
Rathore allegedly murdered the young boy, named as Jatin Rathore, on 28th April after he saw her kissing her neighbour, named as Uday Indolia, on a terrace.
The young boy suffered serious head injuries after falling from two floors and died in hospital the following day.
The family initially assumed that the boy had died accidentally after slipping from the terrace.
But after having nightmares, the woman confessed to her husband, who recorded her and handed over the evidence to the police.
She was arrested along with her lover, who was present on the terrace at the time of the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
