A young man was filmed as he climbed up a tall street light after being chased by a ferocious unleashed dog in a bid to escape and avoid being bitten.

He narrowly dodged the giant Alaskan Malamute’s powerful jaws that chased him along the roadside in Longgang, in China’s south-eastern Shenzhen Province, at around 1:30 pm on 4th November.

Phone footage shows the man, dressed in black shorts and a white T-shirt, desperately clinging to the middle of the metal lamppost next to busy traffic.

Below on the ground, the large dog with shaved fur could be seen circling around the pole, waiting for the victim to come down while its owner was nowhere to be found.

The person filming could be heard saying that the man climbed the pole to escape the pursuing dog.

Shortly after, three security guards reportedly arrived and chased the dog away. It was only then that the young man climbed down from the pole.

According to the staff of the residential community where the security guards were stationed, the dog appeared to be an Alaskan Malamute.

After the guards rescued the young man, they also reported the incident to the police and the dog was captured.

The Alaskan Malamute is a large and powerful dog breed known for its strength and endurance.

Originating from Alaska, USA, these dogs were originally bred for sledding and hauling heavy freight due to their impressive strength.

They are characterised by their wolf-like appearance, with a strong, well-muscled body, erect ears, and a plume-like tail that is carried over the back.
