A lucky man had a stroke of good fortune after he found piles of cash hidden inside an old mattress that he picked up from the street.
The man, whose identity was not disclosed in media, but is said to run a household recycling centre. Had spent his days collecting scraps in order to make a living.
But the man from the city of Wuzhou, located in the east part of the Guangxi Region, in China. Experienced a lucky break after he ran across an old mattress in the streets.
He was overjoyed when he removed the cover and found stashes of money hidden between the support coils on Wednesday, 6th December.
Footage shared on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, shows the cash spread along the coil surface. As the excited finder takes a stash of CNY 100 (GBP 11) bills and starts counting them.
A woman standing next to him can be heard excitedly helping him take the money out of the mattress.
Astonished by the sight, netizens left an avalanche of comments.

Douyin user ‘sad memories’ said: “I heard from a friend that when I worked at the Kowloon Paper Factory in Dongguan. An employee found a box of US dollars in a waste paper bin.
“No one knew it at the time, but a forklift driver took it all away, and he didn’t come to work the next day!”
