This horrendous footage shows how young people plunged to the pavement below after losing their grip while trying to rappel down the facade of a burning building.

The blaze started at an institute called the Sanskriti Coaching Centre in the Mukherjee Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi, India, on the afternoon of 15th June.

As the fire ripped through the building, students were seen jumping out of the third-floor windows in a desperate bid to save their lives.

Terrifying footage shows how they lowered themselves down the burning building’s facade on wire cables as people on the street below looked on in horror.

As some of the students lost their grip, they could be seen plunging several feet to the ground below.

Others could be seen landing on top of other students further down the facade.

Eleven fire engines were dispatched to the scene to put out the blaze, according to reports.

Remarkably, no deaths were reported, and only four suffered minor injuries.

A Delhi Fire Department spokesperson said: “All persons have been rescued from the building. Fire fighting operation has been concluded.”

Police reporting officer Suman Nalwa of the Delhi Police told local media: “A few students received injuries as they were escaping from the building where the fire broke out today.

“No person is trapped in the building. The fire broke out in the electricity meter of the building. Panic caused due to rising smoke.”
