This is the moment a terrified horse bolts mid-performance, throwing a rider to the ground before dragging her helplessly across the arena.
The incident happened at Chimelong Safari Park in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, China, on 15th March.
Video footage shows the dramatic scene unfolding as the equestrian show reaches its peak, when the horse suddenly becomes startled and surges forward.
The female performer is seen losing her balance and being flung from the saddle, with her foot appearing to become trapped, leaving her unable to break free.
The animal then charges across the arena, dragging the rider along the ground as a long trail is carved through the dirt, and dust billows into the air.
Shocked spectators can be heard gasping and shouting as the rider is pulled along behind the galloping horse.
The ordeal continues for several moments before staff rush in and manage to finally free the performer’s trapped leg.

Park staff said the rider is a trained professional and was examined by an on-site doctor after the incident.
They confirmed she did not suffer any serious injuries.
Staff also said the performance area is restricted to the professional performers only, with no visitor participation.
The park has not released details on the cause of the incident. Officials said equestrian performances at the park have since resumed as normal.
